![]() He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Merritton Fire Department. Ed never turned down an opportunity to volunteer or reach out to help. Early retirement gave Ed more time to enjoy with his wife, two daughters, family and friends, hiking the Bruce Trail, joining the Pioneer Squares Dance group, Brock Fitness (later Brock Senior Fit), golfing, enjoying weekend trips but content to stay close to home, creating countless beautiful wood pieces in his workshop. At the age of 18, Ed began working at Domtar Fine Paper Limited, Merritton, where he stayed for over 40 years before retiring in 1995 at the age of 58.
